winter woolies giveaway!

June 23, 2012

Brrr it's cold in Melbourne at the moment, I've been wearing my favourite scarves + hats + gloves and keeping warm with hot cups of tea and extra blankets on the bed.

I've been attempting to knit a new scarf for oh, the past year, and I think I've finally realised I'm not a knitter at heart. I do enjoy knitting, but somewhere along the line I missed the patience gene. I'm more a 'start and finish in a day' type of crafty girl.

So, this morning I was going through my knitting stash and found this Rowan pattern book. It's full of fun projects but I'm pretty sure all of them would take me longer than a day so I've decided the book needs a new home. If you'd like to win this book please leave a comment on this post letting me know your favourite ways to spend time during Winter. The giveaway is open until midnight Saturday 30 June. I'll post Australia wide (sorry to my international readers). I may also include some bits and pieces of pretty yarn to get you started : )

And don't forget - our 40% off sale has only 1 week left to go. Pop over to our online store to take a look.

Happy weekend x

UPDATE: Comments now closed. The winner of the giveaway is Comment #7 from Karen - congratulations Karen! I'll be in touch to get your details for postage.

  1. Ooh how lovely! My favourite way to spend winter days here in Tasmania include finding a stylin' coat, mittens and scarf, popping them on, packing a thermos of hot cocoa and hiking up the top of our local ski fields and sliding down the hill on thick garbage bags because we are too cheap to rent toboggans or skis! Its a brilliant day out and our nieces love it!

  2. I've only just been taught how to knit, and I'm finding it both frustrating and rewarding - a very odd mix!
Even though we're much warmer up here in Brisbane, we've still been lighting the open fire every night, and curling up on the couch with the little ones to read books under blankets. There's the odd mug of hot chocolate shared, and tall tales being told before bed. It's fast becomming my most favourite way to end another winter's day :)

    Happy weekend!

  4. Oh my Shannon, I have been drooling over Rowan books at the local craft store! This winter and most, I love snuggling with the kids, knitting, cooking soup, gardening when it's not raining, wearing my gumboots around town (and beyond sometimes), collecting more vintage blankets than I seem to need - but then they all get used and a night time movie, or early to bed with my book and electric blanket! xxx Rach

  5. Winter is by far my favourite season so there are so many things I enjoy doing to spend my time! During the day, I love getting dolled up in my heavy coat, mittens, scarves and beanies, before meeting friends for coffee at cute little cafe's with open fires and then making my way to Spotlight and spending hours in the fabric and craft sections and picking out what I'm going to sew next. Then when I finally get home, I put on my pyjamas straight away with my slippers and thick cardigan, snuggle up on the couch with the boyfriend with my pot of Earl Gray tea, and then stare at mum's knitting basket and dream of the days when I will finally learn to knit. I think it would be such a great pastime on freezing cold winter nights! During this time I will usually end up catching up on my favourite crafty blogs as well.

    I FREAKING LOVE WINTER!

  6. Hi there, thank you for this opportunity to win something so lovely. I'm definately addicted to yarn, both for crochet and knitting and not a day goes by where I'm not busily making something for myself or my kids. Winter allows me to indulge all the more and I love nothing better than getting the kids into bed early and cuddling up in front of the heater and getting my fingers moving. Love the blog and your gorgeous shop.... Xx

  7. I have just started knitting and am loving spending evenings learning the basics... I have been totally inspired by some of Kate Davies designs from needled and am building up to trying one of her cardigan designs! All while accompanied with a glass of red or a cup of tea!
