when it rains, it pours

Well, where did that last month go? I hadn't intended to take a break from the blog but things have been happening and time just seemed to disappear!

In the past few weeks I have moved not once, but twice.... finally though I am starting to get settled in my new place, and will hopefully have the studio set up within the next week or so. You see, I have decided to build myself a new work bench, but of course this involves power tools and I am not the handiest of girls when it comes to building things, so I have enlisted the help of a generous friend who has agreed to show me the art of a drop saw and electric drill in return for a home baked cake. I thought that was a pretty good arrangement.

I had hoped to show you a little bit of the shack I now call home, but it has been raining constantly for days on end and of course the one sunny day we have had in the past 2 weeks I totally forgot all about taking photographs, preferring instead to get outside and go exploring without the need for gumboots, raincoat and umbrella. I quickly snapped this shot of the outside of the shack, the back deck has a wonderful view over a valley, I can sometimes see cows grazing on the hill. The sun comes up in this direction also, I have been eating my breakfast outside most mornings and dreaming of a large day bed with lots of plump cushions on it. My list of projects for the shack is a mile long, I need to remember to take things one day at a time.

For now, I am easing myself back into some sort of routine, though I think it will be awhile before I get back into the swing of things. It does seem that life happens at a much slower pace up here, which is what I have been longing for but I am still a creature of habit who needs to be doing something every minute of the day. OK... I think I will practice this art of slowing down by going to watch the rain blowing in across the valley. While I cook dinner. One step at a time...

  4. Thanks everyone for your comments : ) I think the only thing to do with all this rain is to sew some cushions for myself, in preparation for the daybed : ) I'm hoping to stumble across the perfect one at the local op shop.... I'm an optimist : )
